How to Measure Feet for Inline Skate Sizing
Inline skate brands do NOT use the same size chart. Some brands have multiple size charts on their own! The size charts may change, but your feet do not (for the most part). IW therefore strongly encourages measuring your feet to determine your skate size.
How to Measure
Measure your feet while wearing socks similar to those that you plan to skate in. If you do not wear socks while you skate, measure without.
Measure both feet, one at a time.
- Place a piece of blank paper on a hard surface against a wall.
- Place your foot on the paper with your heel against the wall. If your foot is too long, try rotating so that the corner is touching the wall instead.
- Trace around the toes.
- Use a straight edge to draw a line marking the longest point.
- Measure from heel to toe and write it down (repeat 1-5 on your other foot)
- Circle the longest measurement.
- If measuring in inches, convert to centimeters (multiply by 2.54 or use the internet).
Use your measurement and reference with each model-specific size chart to determine skate size. It is not uncommon to be a different size as you look at different skates.
Inline Skates are meant to fit more snuggly than shoes. Size is largely a preference, so try on skates indoors prior to skating. If you require especially wide shoes, IW recommends adding .5cm to 1.0cm to your measurement to increase volume.
